Crane Hire or Contract Lift?
Legal requirements relating to Health and Safety make it necessary for all lifting operations involving cranes to be properly planned, controlled and supervised. When hiring a crane from Lift-it Ltd you have the option to hire on a CPA Crane Hire basis or a CPA Contract lift basis.
Option 1 – CPA Crane Hire
In accordance with HSE guidelines and LOLER, Lift-it can only provide a crane on CPA Crane hire basis if the customer provides a qualified and experienced appointed person to plan and take responsibility for the lifting operation and must provide adequate insurance for the following:
*loss of damage to our plant and equipment whilst on site and under the customer's control;
* loss of or damage to the goods being lifted;
* continuing hiring charges whilst the equipment is unable to work as a result of loss or damage;
* legal liability - injury to the driver / operator whilst under the supervision and control of the customer along with injury to third parties, including damage to their property, arising from crane operations.
In summary, under CPA Crane Hire agreement, it is the customer’s responsibility to fully plan, control, supervise and insure the crane operation and personnel.
Option2 – CPA Contract Lift
Under this option Lift-it Ltd relieves the customer of the responsibility of preparing a method statement, risk assessment, lifting diagram and of managing, insuring and supervising the lifting operation. The company provides a tailor made package to include the equipment, paperwork and personnel for the whole lifting process.
In this high risk industry we recommend that customers who are not experienced in hiring cranes and therefore not aware of the responsibilities, duties and risks to take this option.
